It’s hard to know how an unfamiliar dog will react to your attempts to become his leader; if you catch a very self-protective dog off guard, he may bite. It doesn’t happen frequently, but don’t take the chance, and make your assessments in other ways instead. He’s going to be a little bit out of sorts when you first take him out of his cage. Mea, A Rescue Success Story

One morning last February, a five-month old Italian Greyhound was surrendered by her owners to the local humane society with a severely injured leg. Degloved by a raccoon trap, her leg was virtually unrecognizable and she was traumatized. We feel that purchasing a puppy is a life long commitment and we would like to see buyers take the time to consider what they are looking for in a dog. Please keep in mind that each year, millions of dogs and cats are killed in shelters because their temperaments have been ruined because of irresponsible, and/or uneducated, and/or unthinking owners. It is estimated that over 40% of the dogs in shelters are purebred dogs. Their owners did not move to a state that doesn’t take dogs, these dogs were surrendered to the shelter because there was a problem with the temperament of the dog, housebreaking problems, destructiveness, or aggressive type behavior.
